Teator.com was started in 2000 by Michael Teator to provide free email hosting to Teator family members. Recently, Michael has begun growing Teator.com into a family portal with content that family would enjoy and be useful.

 

Teator.com hosting is split between Dotster for the DNS & web and Google Apps for Your Domain for the email hosting. Both are A class services and are serving Teator.com well. Teator.com was previously hosted by my friends at Blue One, but was moved to experiment with Google's mail hosting (we bow to our Google overlords.) If you're in the central Kentucky area, please consider Blue One for your internet access or web hosting needs.

 

Teator.com is driven on the backend with a mix of PHP, MySQL and XML. Nothing fancy or beautiful, but it works well and is fast. Development is done on a 1997 vintage Dell dual PPro 200 with 128MB of RAM running Slackware 11.0 with builds handed off to Dotster's servers when things are stable.
